St. Luke's CAFOD Group
What does CAFOD do?
CAFOD stands for the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development. It is an international development charity and the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales.
They stand beside people living in poverty – whatever their religion or culture. Through local Church partners, they help people directly in their own communities, and campaign for global justice, so that everyone can reach their full potential. Learn more about CAFOD by clicking here
At St. Luke’s Catholic Primary School, we are very proud to support the work of CAFOD. Our group has been established over many years, however, due to Covid the opportunity for us to get together was limited. We are now able to meet together again, to pray, plan and organise events that support and contribute to CAFOD projects overseas.
- We supported CAFOD Harvest Family 2021 by organising an non uniform day and with the money raised we purchased a range of world gifts
- Advent 2021- we organised a raffle. The CAFOD class representatives took responsibility for selling tickets we raised £160, thank you to everyone for their generosity. Our group decided to do a class survey to help us decided on which World Gifts to purchase.
- February 2022 – we have created a display in our school hall to share with .our school community and all our friends and visitors, how we at St. Luke’s are working together and supporting the work of CAFOD.
.
Pope Francis has written a letter to everyone, asking us to reach out to our sisters and brothers in need, whoever they are, wherever they may come from. We are all challenged to think of ourselves as a single global family living in a common home, and neighbours to all.
At CAFOD, we believe this means moving towards a world where everyone can be the best person they can be.
