Weekly Update

Date: 29th Jan 2019 @ 4:49pm

On Saturday evening the pupils were enrolled onto this year’s Sacramental Programme, the children were joined by family, friends and staff from school supporting them as they take this next step in their faith journey.  The children will now wear the medals presented to them by Father Kenny.

This week our link with Chester Zoo was developed further.  Our Key Stage One pupils visited the Zoo on Tuesday.  Despite the cold weather, the children had a wonderful time finding out lots of information about the animals; this will be used to develop their writing skills, in both English and Topic work. It was also their turn this week to experience the workshop on the unsustainable production of palm oil; as well, as lots of interesting facts for our pupils to think about.

As we found out last week; this is one of the biggest threats facing the forests and wildlife of Borneo and Sumatra –and demand is increasing.  Forest and habitats are being lost, animals are losing their homes and carbon is being released into the atmosphere, contributing to global warming.

On Wednesday morning, it was an early start for members of Class 6.   At 6 am, we left Frodsham, to travel down to London to visit the Houses of Parliament and Downing Street.  This was an opportunity to experience democracy in action.  We were really fortunate to meet our local MP, Mike Amesbury.  I was really impressed by the way our pupils participated in the workshop and the questions they asked, it definitely looks like we have some budding politicians.

Thank you again to the parent helpers who have volunteered their time to support both educational visits this week.

Hoping you all have a good weekend.

Best wishes

Miss Murtagh
