Headteacher's Weekly Update

Date: 25th Oct 2019 @ 4:02pm

During this final week of half term we have provided further enhancement to our curriculum with the continuation of the computer workshops.  As ever there was enthusiasm and excitement for learning.  When I spoke to pupils in year 3 and 4 they explained that they said…

I enjoyed creating an animation where people told funny jokes. We learnt about de-bugging and Alogrhythm.  It was really fun.” Thomas Redpath Year 3

“We went on Codo, we programmed a Robot to move. I enjoyed learning about programming.” Joseph Kennedy Year 4

The teachers are looking forward to their inset day on Monday 4th November where they will be developing their computing skills.

It was also very interesting hearing about the books each class has read during ‘Black History Month’  Children were chosen from each class to share who they have found out about and how they have changed the course of history.  Rosa Parks was one of the people who impressed the children with her resilience and determination to make a difference.

We had our St. Luke’s Feast Day mass yesterday; this was a special celebration with a focus on the life of our patron saint, Saint Luke.   Thank you Father Kenny and to all the children who contributed to the liturgy of the word, also a very big thank you to Mrs Gonzalez who led us in our singing.

We had a wonderful time at the Halloween Disco last night.  Everyone put such a lot of effort into their costumes, and as a result there was lots of fun on the dance floor.  On behalf of the children and staff, we would like to extend our thanks to our FoSL parents, who as ever worked extremely hard to make this another successful event.

We wish all our families a very happy and safe half term break. Children return to school on Tuesday 5th November.   Parent’s evenings will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evening, we look forward to meeting with parents and discussing pupil progress.  During this week we will be selling poppies on behalf of the British Legion we encourage everyone to support this very worthwhile cause.

On behalf of all the staff thank you to everyone for your continued support.

Best wishes

Miss Murtagh
