Headteacher's Weekly Update

Date: 18th Jan 2019 @ 5:48pm

This week we invited staff from Chester Zoo into school to deliver a workshop to our Key Stage Two pupils on the unsustainable production of palm oil.  It will be Key stage One’s turn next week. This is one of the biggest threats facing the forests and wildlife of Borneo and Sumatra –and demand is increasing.  Forest and habitats are being lost, animals are losing their homes and carbon is being released into the atmosphere, contributing to global warming.  They have invited us to get involved in the palm oil challenge. With your families they want you to celebrate the companies who are committed to using sustainable palm oil.  For us to get involved Miss McVeigh has requested us all to collect wrappers and packaging of products using sustainable palm oil; these will be used to create a collage during Arts week.    How many wrappers can you collect?

On Saturday evening we will be joining the pupils about to enrol on this year’s sacramental programme.  This is a very special occasion where they will be presented with their enrolment medals; I know they will wear them with pride.

I along with Mr Taylor and other members of staff look forward joining pupils and their families at the Enrolment mass. I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.

Best wishes

Miss Murtagh
