Dear Parents

The Christmas festivities began with the Frodsham Christmas Festival last Saturday evening. Despite the cold weather, there were many smiling faces on the float and in the lantern parade.  This is always a very enjoyable occasion and we are always very proud to part of this community event.   A huge thank you to all the staff and the parents who supported this event in any way.

On Sunday many of the children in year three attended Church with their family, it was lovely to see you all there, especially as this was the first Sunday of Advent.  Ava in class five was serving and was chosen to light the first candle on the wreath.

On Wednesday, we had a special mass to celebrate the service given by Mr Doug Yates who has been a Governor at St. Luke’s Catholic Primary for over 33 years.  We would like to thank Doug for all his hard work and dedication and wish him well for the future.

Our mini Vinnie’s have had a busy week this week.  Representative were chosen to attend a day of reflection at St. Nicholas’ High School.  In doing so, they shared a presentation about all the many events they organise.  Their priority is to put the needs of others first.   They have visited the Frodsham Nursing home this afternoon; where they sang Carols and spent time talking to the residents.

Class Two visited the ‘Tin Chapel’ to take part in this year’s Christmas Journey.  The children said they enjoyed learning about the Christmas journey and the birth of the baby Jesus the Saviour of the world.

Today our Reception class also walked down to the town to visit the post office.  They had a very special job to do, and that was to post their letter to Father Christmas. They have all promised that they are going to be very good!

This week classes have been busy rehearsing for their Nativity plays.  I am sure you are looking forward to these performances as it is always a very special time, when parents and grandparents are filled with pride.  We look forward to welcoming you next week.

Finally, I would like to ask you to remember Mrs Grealis (our Deputy Headteacher) and her family in your prayers.  Sadly, her Father passed away very suddenly last week.  This is always a very difficult time, but we want her to know, all her friends and family at St. Luke’s offer their prayers and support.

Best wishes

Miss Murtagh
